insta-life, volume 2.

I saw Drake at the Cheesecake Factory by my work... this was the best I could do. 2 Observations: 1. Drake is real enough to eat at the CF? I'd think he'd at least be at Joe's or something. 2. I was really disappointed in his outfit. In fact, if there wasn't a crowd around him, I probably would never have known it was him. Huge lack of bling/rapper swag.

This wittle guy is quite the baller.

Yase is officially a missionary! While we're on the subject, please take a look at the England MTC where he's been... it's BEAUTIFUL. I'm jealous.

Smalls graduated middle school! And her class sang the world's worst/funniest version of Man in the Mirror. 8th graders should never attempt MJ.

We enjoyed a delicious lemon bar from Nordstrom Cafe and it brought back good memories from when Kori and Jessi were addicted to lemon bars and we would have to make special trips to the mall just to pick some up... good times.

Erin Andrews replied to my tweet! It was kind of the best thing ever because I love her.

I turned 24 and got my one birthday wish... a donut cake! Thanks Dixon and Shay!

We're obsessed with Topshop's free photo booth.

Jessi was in town this weekend, which of course meant sisters bonding time! Mom asked us to go get milk at the store, which naturally meant we made Hannah dress up and go in the store in character while we waited in the car. It's normal. And later that night she may or may not have made us watch the one direction concert dvd, which we secretly didn't mind.

flashback: obx.

Might I suggest that you meander over to my longtime friend Emily's blog? She is a master with words, has some of the coolest life experiences AND she has the cutest little family... what more could you ask for? I was reading her blog tonight of her adventures at their beach house in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and I got soooo jealous. You see, we were lucky enough to spend a week there with them during the summer of 2005 and it. was. heaven. I've always been a sucker for the beach and it was so fun and refreshing to experience the east coast and the atlantic ocean. It is SO beautiful there and they have so many different activities and events. We would spend our mornings playing wallyball, spend the day at the beach, go check out the crab traps in the evening, and ride our bikes to the little store for cotton candy ice cream every night. I fell in love with this little place! One day me and Emily took out the kayak and after a few minutes, we were surrounded by dolphins. Like, literally right next to our kayak and swimming all around us and under us. It was terrifying/exhilarating at the same time! Something I will never forget. I dug up a couple pictures from our trip- enjoy my high school hair and sassy green plaid shorts! Truly one of my favorite trips ever, besides the side trip to Kitty Hawk and hiking up to the memorial in the sweltering heat and humidity, but that experience resulted in finding a drive thru convenience store that is so truly brilliant, I wonder how it hasn't sprouted up all over the country. How's that for a run-on sentence?

One Direction!! (said in a british accent, obvi)

You guys, I for reals might be in love with One Direction. Don't act like you don't know who they are! They have the most infectious and adorable song EVER, What Makes You Beautiful (youtube it now please) and they are all heartthrobs with british accents, so you really can't go wrong. I may or may not secretly wish I was 15 again so I could be obsessed with them, since I feel like it's creepy that I'm almost 24 and they are 18-20. Almost legal, right? I'm such a cougar. Anyways, Hannah is IN. LOVE. with them. Like, I've never seen anyone more obsessed with anything in my life. Her room is covered in posters and magazines and she knows every little fact about each of them. It's kind of annoying/the most endearing thing ever! I was lucky enough to be the chaperone for her and her two friends Suzie and Bethany for the concert last weekend. It was SO FUN! We had the best time! Aren't the girls so cute? They were counting down to this day for weeks. The opening act, Olly Murs, was so cute and I'm dying for his music to release in the US. And then in was 1D time! I took my mom's camera to get some good pictures since we were up in the balcony. I took this pic of the girls right when One Direction first came out... hahaha I die for their reactions! And then they all started crying because they couldn't believe they were seeing 1D in person! These boys are so cute and charming and great singers! I like that they are pretty wholesome and appropriate for Boot's age... they seem to embrace it. Have I mentioned how adorable they are? And then we went to Sugar Factory for some dessert to top off their most perfect night. I had so much fun with these girls, they are the cutest! I hope Boots never gets sick of me so I can be her concert buddy forever! Now go download some 1D :))))

Mr. President

Apparently President Obama thinks UNLV is important enough to become the centerpiece for his plans to lower interest rates on student loans, so he decided to come give a little speech on campus (Either that or Nevada is a swing state, you decide). Coach Augmon wanted to take his family to the speech so I was in charge of getting him tickets, and talked myself into getting one in the process. I'm not a very political person, but I figure hearing the President speak in person is once-in-a-lifetime-type stuff, right? I ended up getting a VIP ticket but I got there late so I just stood in the back with some girls from my office, and I'm kinda bummed I didn't go into VIP because he went over there and shook hands when he was done! His speech was interesting, he's definitely a good speaker and tries to interact with the audience, which I appreciated. He's very charismatic. Of course I didn't really get any good pictures, but I'll always have the experience! Thanks Barack.

making it count.

Meet my newest accessory, my Nike+ Fuelband! I am not as active as I should be (aka I'm very lazy) and this little baby has kept me motivated as of late! What is it, you ask? Let me give you my little sales pitch: -It does 4 things: Tells the time, counts calories burned, counts your steps, and tracks your fuel. -What is fuel? Well my friend, let me inform you! Fuel is basically tracking any sort of movement and putting it into a point system. You make a goal for yourself to get to a certain amount of fuel each day and try to reach it by moving around and staying active. Simple, right? -The beauty of it is that it's counting literally everything you do... folding laundry, playing basketball, running, doing your makeup, dancing, literally anything (except cycling, since you wear the band on your wrist and your wrist doesn't really move while biking) -There's an app on the iphone that you download and it tracks all your fuel for the day, the week, the month, etc., and gives you little trophies when you accomplish goals. It's seriously the best! I've had it for almost a month now and I've only missed my goal twice... both on sundays because I never do anything on those days! Nike was kind enough to give us one for free so I'm grateful for that since its pretty pricy ($150) but I would seriously recommend it to anyone. Now I just need to keep upping my goal and get my booty off the couch!

Disneyland 2012

You know how some families are campers and some are beach goers and some are stay at home-ers? Well my family (besides being major beach goers, obviously) are Disneyland-ers. We just love it. I think it's so weird that there are people in the world that don't really care for disneyland... isn't it really the happiest place on earth? I would like to think so. We decided to go for our last family vacation before Chase departs for London. We got to stay at our beloved Grand Californian Hotel, which is just a dream. Please stay there, it really is worth the cash. You can't put a price on being able to walk right into your hotel from the park to take a mid-day nap. Being right on Downtown Disney is excellent because there are SO many good restaurants (go to Naples- incredible pizza). And we spent our last day there by their amazing pool in a cabana with tons of food and the NBA playoffs and then went into the park for 5 minutes to go on Grizzly River Run and get soaked secretly with our swimsuits on underneath and then came back, showered, and went to the park in time for fireworks. Literally my perfect day. I'm obsessed with this place! I hope you enjoy photos of happy people and fireworks and colored denim, because there will be lots of those. Small disclaimer: We were there for 4 days and of course only took pictures on one of them. So no, I didn't wear the same outfit everyday, and yes, I am very aware that my neon green bag clashes with literally everything, but I don't even mind because it's just the perfect size for days like these. My only regret is that I didn't take more food pictures, although maybe that will trick you into thinking I didn't eat 18 churros a day and dole whips and corn dogs and ice cream sandwiches and celebration apples and chocolate covered marshmallows. Maybe?
Our greatest discovery- the Tigger Tail. Marshmallows covered in carmel and white chocolate and sprinkles and then drizzled in chocolate. I drool looking at it!
Wittle guy just LOVED Mickey- he latched right onto his nose and started chatting away! He is the cutest!
Our attempted YOLO on splash mountain... can't quite see Chase's L
Thank you Mom and Dad for the great trip! We love you!
