a few of my favorite things...

I heard this song from The Sound of Music on the radio today. I always wondered why it was considered a christmas song? Anyways, inspiration struck, and now I present to you a few of my favorite things!
-Being able to stay inside and enjoy the snow, wrapped up in a warm blanket
-Having Becca's covered parking spot while she is gone... no scraping!
-The smell of a real Christmas tree
-A Rebel victory (even sweeter over Arizona)
-My HD computer moniter and free online episodes of Grey's Anatomy and Friday Night Lights
-Ugg Boots. You may say out of style, I say save my life in the snow on a daily basis.
-My little sister Hannah. She called me today and said "Lyssie, I have a great idea. Why don't you just come home today?" I told her I wish I could, but I had to work for two more days. Then she said, "I hate your work." Me too, Boots.
-My quote book
-The smell of laundry
-My new green plaid flannel shirt from Urban. I want to wear it every day!
-Pretend diamond earrings from Nords... gotta have a little bling
-The new Taylor Swift album. My friend told me I was lame because Taylor Swift is for middle school girls. Too bad, I will always love Taylor.
-Pictures. More specifically, pictures that bring good memories with them.
-Stila eye shadow in any brown
-Victoria's PINK pants. I live in them.
-My blanket Grammy made for me for graduation. It has all my old tshirts from high school and even some pictures on it. I uses it every single day
-Hoodies. Any kind will do.
And last but not least...
-My friends. More specifically, Jackie, Courtney, Becca, Ally and Brittany. We had our little Christmas the other night, and it was so fun. They are the best and I love them SO SO much.

P.S. Please look at these adorable aprons my Grandma Dixon made for my friends. Cute huh?

I just love Temple Square during Christmas. It's an amazing place any time of the year, but there's a special spirit surrounding it during the holidays. The thousands of lights surrounding the temple are seriously breathtaking! I've always loved Christmas lights. In fact, my family has a tradition of driving around town and looking at houses on the monday night before Christmas. We even have our own rating system ("ooh", "aah", "wow") and we always follow it up with hot Krispy Kremes. I'm kind of sad that I'll miss that tradition this year, being that I'm not coming home till Christmas Eve. However, being able to go enjoy the lights at Temple Square certainly makes up for it. We (me and the girls) ate at the Garden on top of the JSMB... not as good as I remembered it, but still satisfying. Then we went out and walked around for a bit and just enjoyed the season. I think the Salt Lake Temple is one of the most beautiful in the world, and so unique. It makes it that much more beautiful when the square is lit up even more! If you get a chance to be up in Salt Lake during the Christmas season, you MUST go check it out. So worth it!

'Tis the Season

What I've been up to:
Ward Christmas Party... the bishop loves us

A little tree decorating

A little bridal shower-ing for our good friend Anne

A little fast sunday dinner-ing with cousins and friends

and of course... a little gingerbread housing! Mine was a beautiful masterpiece. Naturally, I had to add a little detail of it to make sure everyone knew it was mine...

and then it fell. Oh well.

Oh how I love the holidays.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays!

Title courtesy of my favorite non-traditional christmas song! Me and my mom both agree that the 'Nsync christmas CD is one of the best out there... I highly recommend it. Sorry that I go a little picture crazy on some of these posts, I just love pictures. They bring back such good memories! Anyways, I LOVE THE HOLIDAYS! Seriously. I look forward to being able to listen to christmas music, decorate the tree, see all the lights around town, and even being able to light my fabulous smelling christmas candle! Oh how sweet it is. This Christmas season will be a little weird because I won't be able to go home until Christmas Eve, being as I have to work. I miss seeing my house all lit up and helping my mom decorate. My favorite part about our Christmas decorations at home are our stockings. I don't know if you can see them in any of the pictures, but they are all homemade by my mom and grandma and each one is different and unique. We've had them since we were born and it warms my heart every time we get them out and hang them up! I'm also seriously looking forward to Christmas Eve dinner (prime rib... YUM) and Christmas morning breakfast at Gram's (strawberry waffles... YUM YUM!). Yes it's true, I'm such a Leavitt, looking forward more to the food than the presents! I will miss my cousin Jakey this year at breakfast, but I'm sure he will have a great christmas with the Ecuadorians. I'm excited pick out gifts for my family, but I really cannot think of anything to ask for this year. I'm pretty much set! I just love everything about this season because I actually enjoy focusing on everyone else rather than myself. I can't wait to serve others around me and make their holidays just as good as mine. I'm looking forward to giving my roomates their presents and putting a smile on their faces. I just love this time of year. I hope everyones season is fantastic and that we don't forget the true meaning of these holidays! Enjoy them while they are around :)

Happy Birfday Mom!

I have the bestest momma in the world! She is so loving and takes great care of me even from 400 miles away. I love to be around her and just chat about things. Sometimes she says the funniest things- for example, "Spread your wings and try new pizza!" Infamous mom quote. I love you mom and hope you had the best day!
