farewell to teenagerdom.

In about an hour, I will be 20 years old.

Now, to you, 20 probably still seems young and fresh, but to me, 20 sounds... mature. advanced. responsible. very adult. and OLD. I feel weird telling people that I am 20 years old, when I still feel/act like a 14 year old! Oh life... it just goes by so quickly.

Not that I'm not excited to be 20! It's cool. I've been on the planet for a score... at least I think that's what 20 years is? Like when Abraham Lincoln said "Four score and seven years ago..." that means 87 years right? Besides the point... 20 years is a long time! I remember turning 10. Kyle Garrett and Michael Winn heart attacked my yard and left me flowers and I thought I was the coolest girl in the world. I feel like that was yesterday! For my 11th birthday I was in St. Louis visiting my cousins and we got to go get our hair done and Aunt Chris made us these pretty red dresses and once again, I felt like the coolest girl in the world. For my 16th birthday my dad took me and a few friends to California to go to Six Flags and Venice Beach. Although teenage insecurities prevent me from being able to say that I felt like the coolest girl in the world, it was still a memorable trip. My 18th birthday came just a few days after graduation, so I got a new car, my beloved Silver Vue. An accident, blown tires, busted headlights and multiple speeding tickets later, she still serves me well. For my 19th, my mom and sister were off frolicking in Europe without me, so my dad gave me $200 and told me to go knock myself out. I bought an external hard drive for my struggling computer... needless to say, I didn't feel so cool.

So here I am at 20, no longer a teen but still feeling oh so young. I guess I'm what Britney Spears would classify as "Not a girl, not yet a woman"... but Britney's crazy so I like to think of myself as a little bit of both.

Happy June 18th!

Happy Fathers Day!

I have the best Dad in the world! Here are some things I love about my Pops:
-He takes me on cool trips! When I was 9, he took me to NYC, and he's taking me to Australia next week! And our family has been to Hawaii, Mexico, many trips to Oceanside, and lots of other places!
-He loves all sports and has even gotten me to watch golf with him (Go Phil!) which, I have to admit, I enjoy! Not to mention our rebs... thanks to my dad, we get all the inside scoop and get to go on cool trips with them!
-His rockin taste in music... I have an appreciation for 70's music and Earth Wind and Fire like no one else my age.
-His joking personality! Even though he gives me a hard time, I wouldn't have it any other way! Because of him I have an excellent sense of humor and know not to take life too seriously.
-His love for my Mom! They are still in love as ever and I am so grateful for that. They are such a good example to me!
-His ability to make friends easily. My dad sees people everywhere he goes and they are always some old friend or business contact but it's so cool! He has also become good friends with my friends, so it's fun when they come over and can hang out with my dad.
-Most of all, his love of the Gospel and his example in living it! My parents have taught me well and I'm so grateful that they live the Gospel in its fullness and were married and sealed in the temple! That's the greatest gift my parents could give me!

woe is me.

I am sick. I HATE being sick. I hate being forcibly lazy rather than having the choice to lay around all day or get up and go somewhere. For the past 4 days, I have been in bed and miserable 24/7. I woke up on Wednesday morning feeling perfectly fine, so i went to work and did my thing and then took some flowers up to Amy at Aspen Grove for her and Jake's 2 year anniversary. When I got home, I took a little nap and woke up with this crazy raging fever. Seriously, out of nowhere. So I drowned myself in Nyquil and expected a good night's sleep... little did I know that nyquil doesn't like to work when your roomate has loud friends over (love you j I'm just bitter). I woke up the next morning just as miserable, but with a sore throat added into the mix. So I slept all day and woke up the next morning with no fever, but the same sore throat and now an added migrane. More sleep and lots of advil later... here I am on saturday morning and no improvement. Still sore throat, still migrane, still sleepy. What is this mystery ailment that I have? Where did I catch it? WHEN WILL IT GO AWAY?!?! Feel bad for me.

The past week has been a whirlwind! I started my new job at the Buckle on Tuesday, and it's been so fun! All the people are very friendly and helpful, and I'm in charge of getting all the new clothes out on the floor. I love seeing everything but it's definitely gonna be a struggle not to spend my paycheck on clothes! But I do get a 40% discount, which is nice.

Courtney's birthday was on Thursday, so we celebrated with lots of cake and a trip to CPK... makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Jackie, being the amazing domestic woman that she is, made this FANTASTIC chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. I think I gained 10 pounds just from that! Happy 20th Court!

Oh yeah, and my brother get married on Wednesday! Crazy. The reception was beautiful and it was fun to see them come out of the temple, even if our dresses kept flying up everywhere because of the wind! Jessica flashed everyone about ten times! We got some cute pics on my camera, but I'm excited to see the ones from the photographer. I have to fly down at 5:30 on thursday for the reception in Vegas and then fly back right after... stressful! I hate airports. Oh well, better than driving, I suppose.

Hope everyone has a good week!
